Quick Release Pin Lock for Packout Rolling ToolBox

Packout Pin Latch Closed

Description

If you have modified your Milwaukee Packout rolling toolbox with the JW Winco retractable spring plungers to make the handle removable, you’ve probably noticed that the spring plungers don’t stay in the open position, making it harder to remover and replace the handle than it should be.

I created these release pin locks, to fix that issue. You just print out the lock and attach it to the Packout box next to the release pin and it allows you to lock the release pins in the retracted position. See the video below.

Files

Printer: Prusa i3 MK3
Slicer: Cura Slicer
Material: Inland PET-G
Resolution: 0.2mm with a 0.4mm nozzle
Wall Lines/Perimeters: 3
Infill: 10% Gyroid
Notes: These parts are so thin that it really doesn’t matter what infill you choose. Each lock is a quick 6 minute or so print. you will need two locks.

Instructions

Before installing you should make sure the area on the Packout box is clean. I like to use rubbing alcohol, but depending on what kind of mess you get into you might need something stronger.

Duck Carpet Tape

To attach the locks I used Duck brand carpet tape because it is thin. I would normally use VHB tape for something like this, but it would add too much thickness. Super glue or epoxy might work just as well.

Placement of the lock is a little picky so I made a short video showing how I attached the lock
